Policy Brief #3 - Adequacy of Brazilian social protection programs to the needs of children and adolescents

This Policy brief discusses the adequacy of Brazil’s social protection programs and services in meeting the needs of children and adolescents (C&A). In assessing if a program or service is “child-sensitive” the methodology and analytical framework seek to identify whether the initiative:

  • Places emphasis on and/or prioritizes children, pregnant and/or breastfeeding women in their beneficiary selection process.

  • Provides variable benefits based on the number of family members (or based on the number of C&A in each family).

  • Is structured to improve the accessibility of education, health, and nutrition services for C&A.
